The vocational schools in the federal state Salzburg are summarised into various professional school sections. Thus, e.g. at the regional vocational school 4, all existing electric professions are teached.

In the federal state Salzburg about 10.000 students are attending vocational schools and 10 vocational school homes. These 10.000 students at vocational schools are supervised by about 520 persons. The trainees attend vocational school for two, three or four years as ordinary or extraordinary students. In this regard there is a distinction between the entire-year-classes and the course lessons.

With five locations in the city of Salzburg and in each case one vocational school in Hallein, Kuchl, Obertrum, Saint Johann, Tamsweg, Wals and Zell am See, Salzburg offers a big variety of vocational schools. The training opportunities range from automotive technology and ladies/men garmentmakers to the retail trade, to mention only a few examples.
